To foster young artistic talent and celebrate student artists, the Cuyahoga Falls City School District, located in Ohio, hosts an annual All City Art Walk. The event features unique works of art created by the district’s K-12 students. After choosing a theme for the 2023 event, “Art Transports Us,” the district turned to local sign and graphics company, Central Graphics, for ideas on creatively displaying the art for all to see. With the transportation theme in mind, Central Graphics proposed window clings to showcase the students’ masterpieces floating, rolling, and flying on over 50 downtown city storefront windows. And they had the perfect material for the job, IMAGin® M-Dot® (MD228) by Mactac®.

“M-dot was chosen for many reasons,” said Dave Soulsby, Central Graphics. “It’s the perfect short-term product for an application like this, and we knew it would perform well for the duration of the art project.”

Giving the students creative freedom, high schoolers had the opportunity to oversee each artwork project and create the digital art that Central Graphics then printed onto M-Dot. Central Graphics used HP R1000 and HP Latex 700 printers to complete the job. High and middle school students installed the finished graphics on storefront windows. More than 650 student expressions were displayed for 16 days.

“M-Dot features a unique polymer dot adhesive that allows for easy installation, and it really made the students look like professionals,” Amanda Smith, Marketing Communication Manager, Mactac adds. “The students installed the film on the windows without training, and the finished results looked great.”

IMAGin M-Dot (MD228) is a 4.0-mil matte white PVC film designed for solvent, eco-solvent, latex, and UV inkjet printing. It is coated on one side with a semi-sphere structured, clear removable, acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive and supplied with a 90# WKPE liner. MD228 is designed for short-term indoor and outdoor advertising and promotion on flat, smooth surfaces, including windows, walls, point-of-purchase and point-of-sale advertising, and more.
