If you are looking into a project that involves any type of new flooring, rest assured you will have many options to choose from.  Whether walking through your local “Big Box” retailer or a specialized flooring showroom, you will find many different available materials. These include traditional carpet, ceramic, and vinyl tile, along with new options.

Many designers are incorporating the look of natural materials and textures into their products. Flooring manufacturers are able to create these designs across a broad range of platforms. These include luxury vinyl tile (LVT), patterned flooring, and wide plank hardwood. Many homeowners and contractors alike are now utilizing LVT materials for the diversity of patterns, durability, ease of maintenance and lower overall cost. Waterproof SPC rigid core vinyl is also gaining in popularity and use.

Just as there are many choices for flooring materials, there are also many different options for methods to install. Traditional liquid adhesives, many with high VOC content have been the industry standard for years. Many flooring OEMs are now taking advantage of peel-and-stick tape technologies to incorporate with these new materials. Peel-and-stick flooring solutions offer the installer a quick and worry-free option compared to the use of liquid adhesives. This benefits both the Do-It-Yourselfer and professional contractor with a pre-applied adhesive. PSAs reduce set-up time, construction waste, and variability of adhesive used.

PSAs offer advantages for ease of use, cleanliness, and low VOC emissions. The Mactac Foam and Materials Bonding Guide and the Industrial Product Selection Guide are great resources for finding material and adhesive combinations for your specific flooring application needs.
