Colleen Zielske

Colleen Zielske, manager for the applications development team at MACtac®, has been instrumental in leading applications development engineers and technicians in developing pressure-sensitive solutions for converter and end-user applications.  A Six Sigma Greenbelt, Zielske has more than two years experience serving as a technical marketing manager at MACtac.

In her current role, Zielske works to be an innovative leader who constantly builds creative value-added solutions for customer through the development of pressure-sensitive products.

Zielske has served the pressure-sensitive adhesive market for more than 13 years.  Prior to joining MACtac, she held roles in a variety of market areas, including graphics, roll label, prime and variable information labels and technical tapes.  Her experience also encompasses label converting, die-cutting, printing, dispensing, research and development, product development and business development.

Zielske holds a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.


Carol Umphlett

Carol Umphlett, applications development engineer for MACtac®, works with MACtac's Application Development team to develop product designs for new application solutions. She has more than eight years experience working at MACtac in a variety of roles, including process engineer, technical manager and product development engineer.

Umphlett works with customers to optimize existing products and capabilities and develop original products for new and difficult applications. She excels at solving technically complex problems for customers and creating value-added solutions.

Her expertise lies in coating and drying technology as well as materials handling. She also incorporates statistical methods such as SPC and Designed Experiments as part of her primary role in process scale-up and prototype development.

Prior to joining MACtac, she managed a fiberglass sculptures business and is experienced in composite materials development, lithium-ion battery development and quality engineering. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.


Chip Ficyk

Chip Ficyk, materials application engineer for MACtac®, applies his 13 years of experience at MACtac, including a technical marketing manager role, to developing new products that meet customers' specifications.

Ficyk is responsible for designing and creating MACtac products and solutions to meet customers' unmet needs. With expertise in marrow web digital printing, lay-flat products and other roll label product lines, Ficyk also has experience working with MACtac's printing, medical, and technical commercial areas.

Prior to joining MACtac, Ficyk began his career in quality assurance for a medical diagnostic analyzer manufacturer for raw materials and reagents. He went on to serve as technical support for reagents and then technical specialist supporting reagents, hardware, and software operation issues. Ficyk holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Purdue University.
